FISA concerned about growing unrest and anxiety

8 June 2009

FISA is concerned with the growing unrest and anxiety amongst the
Indian community in Australia. These recent reported acts of violence against Indians have created confusion and a number of students have expressed concern.

We are working closely with various authorities to bring about
solutions locally. These solutions may take a long time and in the
meantime, it is high time that we do something.

We have initiated a number of meetings with various student groups to come to some solutions to bring back confidence within the Indian Community.

As part of this we are looking at multi-modal approach including
courses such as 'Art of Living' to 'Self Defence' classes.

Most of these classes will be run free initially for all victims and their friends. If they are successful and uptake is good we will expand them to other areas and times.

'Art of Living' classes will be held at RMIT City campus from
Wednesday onwards. Please send an email at contact@fisa.org.au with
your expression of interest for Art of Living or Self Defense classes.
