Immense Support for FISA - Student Voice
To,
The Federation of Indian Students of Australia
We the 'Student-Faculty Cell' and 'Peer Group' at the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, India condemn the recent incident of racial assaults on Indian students at Melbourne and Sydney, Australia. We find such incidents counter productive to the entire ethos of a genuine student-culture development. This also hampers our fledgling efforts in developing a student culture in our University system. Kudos to Mr. Amitabh Bacchan for not accepting the honorary doctorate from an Australian University in protest against the racial attacks.
Governments, both in India and Australia, should immediately take stern action against such atrocious incidents to prevent them from taking place in future and ensure and restore safety and confidence of Indian students.
We express our sympathies to the students and families affected by the attacks. We wholeheartedly support the peace march and the candle light vigil for racial harmony being carried out by the Federation of Indian Students of Australia today.

As an Australian with Hong Kong heritage, I am deeply distraught over the racially motivated attacks against Indian students. One of Australia's core values is the belief that everyone, regardless of their race or religion, deserves a fair-go in life. Those perpetrators may speak with an Australian accent, but they are not real Aussies. Racism has no place in Australia and it needs to be addressed. Because of this, I fully support the rally your organization held on Sunday and I wish you all the best with your campaign.- Mr E.L.

The Lancaster University Indian Society is very sorry to hear all these racist attacks on Indians everyday in AUSTRALIA. At this juncture of time all the Indians are together and we are admitting our strong concern and opposition against it. Very soon we are planning to donate some amount in the FISA'S VICTIMS OF CRIME FUND. Everyday we are going through the news of attacks on the Indians in Australia and it is really very disgusting. I am unable to understand the stand of Indian government for it.
Why the foreign policy of India is so weak that none of the major countries are mounting pressure on the government of Australia regarding the attacks?? - Lancaster University Indian Society

On behalf of the Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS), I would like to express our deepest sympathy with FISA and the individuals involved in the recent violent acts.
AUJS stands firm on the issue of racism, discrimination and related intolerance and condemns these acts of bigotry to the fullest extent.
The Jewish students have expressed their support and empathy with these students and look forward to developing a meaningful and lengthy relationship with FISA. - Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS)

I am so proud of the kids who chose to respond in the NON Violent way to the irresponsible remarks by our Australian authorities.
By standing up against violence in the communicative and peaceful manner we will definitely bring about awareness and change.
Our kids need to be proud of their soft , non aggresive nature.
They NEED NOT CHANGE >>the authorities will need to create awareness within themselves and treat this part of our civil society with priority as THIS IS their job...
We can take this as an opportunity to set an example of our Gandhian NON VIOLENT VALUES>>>I would love to assist you all..
I pray for the fast recovery of Shravan and will help in voicing and circulationg your message .

Attacks on Indian/South Asians in Melbourne are deplorable in every sense. They bring pain to the victims, fear to their friends and colleagues, and dismay to all Australians who wish for a peaceful and multiracial country.
The state government, the police and the transport authorities must do more to arrest the attackers and put them in front of a court.
The concerns in India at the highest and most prominent levels need to be taken to heart by authorities here.
In over forty years of intermittent travel in India I have never been attacked because I look different. We should all show Indians the same basic right here. - Mr B.S.

Hi Guys, I wish to congratulate all the organisers of the peace march yesterday. It was a good effort and kudos to the leadership for the well mannered and organised way in which it was held. it is of utmost importance that in these troubled times , good sense prevails and actions have to be directed from the head and not the heart. Emotions have to be under control and we should not be accussed of any action that brings disgrace to our community and makes us loose the moral high ground that we now hold.
Congrats and best wishes once again and would also like to voluteer for any help that I can be of to you guys. - Dr G.N.

"I came to Melbourne as student and have completed my education last year. I have been closely monitoring the incident on Indian national (students and citizens), and have been a prey couple of times, where someone broke into my house and flee with my laptop and on a second count someone performed graffiti work (indecent pictures) on the front of my house.
I would like to congratulate you all people in Federation of Indian Students of Australia (FISA), for your work to help Indian students and citizens. Yesterday we had a statement from high commissioner of India, offcourse, late but, I doubt if it’s going to do any good.
In some statements police have warned Indian students to not to talk in their native language in a loud voice, not to keep MP3, IPod’s etc with them, which is really offensive as its targeted only to Indian students and not to other nationality people. Why can’t we use our own gadgets when we have spent hundreds of $’s on them.
I am amazed that since last two weeks no, education minister have come up with any statement, moreover Australian Media is supporting the culprits by not showing them (news) on national TV or publishing them on newspapers on time.
Some of the parameters set by police to safeguard ourselves are just senseless. They don’t want Indian students to walk alone, for god’s sake no one can take 2-3 other to work they have to go alone. They don’t want us to work in nights, whereas, I would like to know then in that case who is going to work in nights?? I think all taxi drivers should stop driving on nights (especially on weekends), and then they might want to re-consider the statement.
Sir/madam, all I want to say is that all Indian nationals are scared and angry; before they start attacking back it would be nice if all of us do a peace march in CBD so as to seek attention from Australian authorities and public, as we did on 29th Aug 2008 at flinder st (taxi drivers strike after stabbing of an Indian taxi driver). Also, I would like suggest you to please take help from Indian media as they are much fast and then Indian authorities might act as well." - Mr S.K.S.

"Guys! As an immigrant of Indian origin in Canada, I am very concerned about attacks on the Indian students in Australia. Dont let these attacks bring you down. Stand up for your rights and fight with what it takes. You are not there begging for anything from Australians - You pay them; they enrich their society and educational system from your presence.
Leave that darn country if they don't value you. I have lived in Canada for 20 years now and have never encountered anything remotely this racist and violent.
I wish you guys the very best and fully support you." - Dr. H.K.

"I just wanted to express my distress over the news about attacks on Indian students.
I believe that Indian students contribute to Melbourne (and Australian) culture and society and economy in so many ways. I also believe that a union on Indian students has a good bargaining position with the Vic Government to push for getting this matter addressed and resolved.
There is a group on FaceBook called "Stop Racial Violence Against Indian Students" you might want to look into it as FaceBook is a great tool for getting people together for a common cause." - Mr J.P.

"Hello, I am very sorry to hear about the assault on Indian studnst in Australia. I am Ausralian and my wife is from the US and we have both noticed the rate of assault in Australia. Its a disgrace. If you have any influence to the Australian government for better protection, may I suggets that teh issue of a weak justice system be brought up. I fel Australia has a appaling justice system where crimanals get let off with a 'slap on the wrist' for assault. If there were tougher penalties, perhaps criminal assaults would decrease." - Mr. S. B.

"I am a parent whose child is studying in Aus. Like thousands of other parents Iam worried too. My suggestion is that give the e mail id & contact nos. of NDTV, CNN IBN, HEADLINES TODAY,AAJ TAK & BBC TO every Indian student. In turn every student must give it to their parents, who can also mobilise friends , rlatives to write to all media channels to make safety of Indian student a big issue. Themedia in india has often been very powerful. They should not allow the India Govt. to relax after issuing a few statements but must work with the Austrlian Govt. to ensure the safety of our children" - Mrs J (India)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"I am very upset with the recent attacks on indians. I think we should organise a protest in melbourne to let these people know how sad and angry we are with the recent developments. Please post something regarding this on your website." - Mr G.T.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"I want to say that I am Australian and I am appalled at the recent attacks on Indian students in Australia. I am aware there is a racist element in our society which I am ashamed of and just wanted to give you my total support and hope the authorities deal with these idiots responsible and lock them away for a very long time. Please don't believe we are all racist, an Indian person is very welcome in my home anytime. This is a difficult time an I hope this problem is fixed before there are any further attacks" - Mr R.L.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"We should organise a protest at parliment house.
Get bad press for australia, make enough noise and pressurize this govt to take action. I can get members to march to parliment house and hand a memo to MP's. Will you assist ?" - Mr. S.S.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"I am appalled to see and hear the racial attacks on innocent students. We stand united against this menace and offer help in any way." - Ms A.S.

"Just wondering with everything thats going on, whats the next step ? The media decided not to publish anything about 4 students who got attacked recently. The papers say that a few of them have been caught today who attacked saurabh sharma but the question is what is the government gonna do now .. are we gonna hear from Human rights now to say that the 16yr old kids cant be punished and it was a mere act of stupidity ?" - Mr. S.G.

"I am a resident of melbourne city and I wish to pass my sympathy to the felow Indians who were racialy assualted. I have been living in melbourne for last 10 yrs. The amount of insecurity has risen in myself in last 4 yrs,now its the time to get united and give the(only)racist australians an answer for attacking a helpless man in a group of 4 or 5.u have to stand for ur selfrespect because nobody is least bother about u" - Mr. A.I.

"First of all I am appalled and shocked by the number of attacks on Indians in Melbourne.
Also what I find equally appalling is the lack of media coverage on such incidents when it involves foreigners. Normally such news hardly makes a front page mention. Even if it does( like the video footage of a gang beating up Saurabh on the train ), normally people would not be able to leave any comments on such news. Why should the Australian people not be able to comment on such attacks? People in India and elsewhere need to know what Australia (media, people, police and politicians) think of such attacks. After all, Indian students come in large numbers to Australian Universities and it is no secret that it is the exorbitant fees payed by the overseas students that keep the Universities in this country running.
In the latest attack in Melbourne a student has a screwdriver pierced through his head( from what I read in some Indian newspapers ). The same place was then burgled when the students went to went to see their friend( in coma and whose recovery, the doctors are not hoping ). Talks a lot about the effective police force in Victoria. Vic Police is also doing lip service by going on a tour of India to educate prospective students. Is there a bigger sham? Why don't they save tax payers dollars. They would do a better job by staying in Melbourne and catching the criminals. Why are criminals treated as victims in this country? Most of these criminals, if classified as children, would be back in the streets after paying a small fine or maybe doing a few hours of community service.
Australian media should also come out of it's apparent bias when dealing with crimes committed by it's citizens . I have also written to IDP Melbourne, to better portray the reality of studying and living in Australia for prospective overseas students. Australia is not just the beach, sand and sun that many of these agents speak about when in India. Not surprisingly, I haven't received a response.
NB: I was a former student, having studied in Univ. of Wollongong during '98-'00, and am now an Australian citizen." - J.S., Perth.
I’m a Malaysian Chinese and have lived in Australia for a number of years. I wish to state my support for the cause of FISA. Racism must never be tolerated. The response of the Victorian authorities is just only short of tolerating what are obviously racially motivated attacks. I will from now on monitor this site of your proposed activities and will to the best of my ability, participate in such activities or otherwise provide support. I will also pray for Indian students in Melbourne.
Sincerely
Ian Teh,

Hi all,
My name is Srinivas and I have lived in Australia for about 5 years now, initially as an Indian student and now as an Australian citizen. Apart from India and Australia, I have lived in many other countries as well. This post of mine is in response to some of the posts that outlined experiences of violence in Australia by people of Indian origin.
I feel sad for the plight of some of the students of Indian origin here, who have faced some trouble in the recent past. However, I should also write that CRIME and RACISM are not one and the same. Crimes related to drunk behavior are becoming more and more common in some suburbs in most Australian cities. Indians are not the only victims of drunk behavior, the victims have been of all colors and all backgrounds. The Indian media is playing a very dirty game to sensationalise the crimes as "Racist attacks".
Having lived in this country for about 5 years, I can safely say from my heart, that Australians, in general, are not racist. To label Australians as racist in general is simply a lie. Iam not trying to prove that 100% of Australians are somehow racist-proof - this statement would be a lie as well, for no human being on this planet is perfectly unbiased. There will always be a small minority of people in every group with a racist mindset. It is not possible for us to have a perfect world, with everybody behaving like saints. However to call Australia as racist is simply unfair.
I would however agree that the police forces in Australia are simply inefficient in dealing with even the pettiest of crimes. The anger of the Indian students and others of Indian origin should be directed towards the inefficiency of the police, not the Australian state.
Many Australians think that India is a country where the caste system is rampant and lower castes are always exploited by the so-called higher castes. But I know from my experience in India, that India is not as bad as the Aussies think India to be. I have lived in both semi-urban and rural environments and I have never seen untouchability even in my father's and grandfather's village. The only caste system that I have seen in India is the "rich caste" and the "poor caste". However, Iam not saying that all Indians are caste-free in their minds. There might be people in India who may think that people of their caste are superior compared to all others; But to call all Indians as 'casteists' is unfair.
There are almost no western countries in which racism is institutionalised. However, the same cannot be said about all countries in the world. There are genuninely racist countries in the world, such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Malaysia, SriLanka etc. Has the Indian media seriously raised issues about the plight of Sikhs and Hindus in Pakistan. Do we know how many Sikhs and Hindus have lost their lives in Pakistan over the last two years? Do we know how many Indians were jailed in Malaysia by the Malaysian government in the recent past? Do we know that an Indian lady was jailed and forced to consume beef against her will in Malaysia. Do we know anything about the plight of non-muslim Indians in Saudi Arabia? Do we know the plight of Tamils in SriLanka? The generic answer to these questions is "no", because the Indian media have their own vested interests. The so called angry young man, Amitabh Bachan cannot raise his voice against these injustices and racist attacks on Indians, because of local political compulsions within India. However, the angry young man can raise his voice against Australia. He knows where he can act to be angry and where he cannot. After all, he (or is wife) have in-depth experience in politics and thus he is a wise old man now.
Indians in Australia have every freedom when it comes to their daily life - food habits, culture, religion, dressing habits, temples, gurudwaras, bollywood - everything is here. Nobody has destroyed temples in Australia as they do regularly in Pakistan and Malaysia. Racism is institutionalised by the Government in some of these Islamic countries. Will the Indian media ever stand up to these attrocities? No, because some of the Indian media commentators are on the payrolls of their Arab paymasters. For example, Barkha Dutt of NDTV fame is on the payrolls of Govt of UAE(she works for 'Khaleeji Times' a middle-eastern part government owned news paper).
We Indians should wise up; There is no need to pick out soft targets in the western countries. This holds atleast for Indian Hindus, because Indian Hindus have limited options - live in India or live in one of the western countries. Living in many Islamic countries for Indian Hindus equates to giving up one many of their basic human rights. Lets not bite the hand that feeds us. Lets see things in its proper perspective.
Now, just because I have written against some of the Muslim governments, does not mean to say that Iam against Islam. Iam not aginst any religion, any nationality. Iam only aginst extreme injustice and extreme racism, especially constitution-supported racism.
People may think Iam totally wrong, but what I have written above is my honest perception of ground realities in the world today. I have written from my experience and conscience and have tried to be unbiased, but being a human, means to be biased to some extent.
Peace.
Regards,
srinivas
Thank you for your support and prayers, Ian. My friends and I who are Malaysian, have encountered degrees of racist abuses in the few years that we have been studying here and as far as I know, Chinese are not spared either. Thankfully it has not come to the same extent.
Yup, the authorities are just pathetic in the way they're handling the situation. Blaming the victims rather than dealing with the criminals is extremely appalling, especially coming from a country that claims it's developed. Unfortunately we were given a different picture before getting here and spending all that money.
Appreciate it, Thank you Ian
I think that our voices have been heard. It is high time that the Indian media and protesters give a break. Else, it would change the sympathy of the Aussie supporters to rage and may make a permanent damage to our relationships.
What has been done is condemnable, racial or criminal or however each person likes to view it. Though there were some anti-Indian blogs by a few Aussies (same would happen in any country), most of them have been written to support us and especially with no derogatory remarks. I think we have to show the same respect back to the millions that have no stand in this issue and not exacerbate the racial feelings.
I suggest that we should keep Indian media in loop, we should have AAJ TAK, STAR NEWS etc's email address with us.
And should post the news on their email ids.
IN GOGLE FEED IB7/TIMES/INDIA TV NOW ETC AND YOU GET THE WEBSITE AND EVERY CONTACT YOU NEED.
I agree with you.
I left India in 2006, and would appreciate if am provided with email ids. from someone.
All am doing is to keep my University students together and we have appointed a Student counsellor and a Student Service Manager who will not only help the student by providing information but will also help in over coming their day-to-day struggles.
I have forwarded few emails to our student by saying that they should be in touch with each other, should have each others email adds and mobile nos, and if possible to live in a shared accomodations. And should keep a watch on their fellow students if they are not coming to university then try to ask them why and what is the reason.
We are also telling the students to visit the Gurudwaras & Temples so that they can meet each other and can discuss whats going on around them.
Lets be realistic, we are here away from home and no one else will look after us but ourselves.
To all the parents in India, please don't send them to Australia for Diploma/ hair dressing etc courses, instead tell them to stay in India and study further and then go abroad on Work permits.
Parents please don't waste your money and take risks, your kids are much more capable than foreigners. And this is what creates problems.
Take care.....

I have been living in Australia since 2006, I came here on a student visa and used to hear incidence that International students are becoming victim of day to day gruges, howevee, never faced one my self I think I was lucky.
However, the recent incidence have shocked me and yesterday when I came across FISA, I have promised my self that I will introduce as many students as possible to FISA, so that they become member and we all can unite together.
We know our limitations, but we can alteat come together and become each others strength.
Example:- Classmate should start observing each other, if 1 is not attending classes for more that 7 continues days they should check upon him if everything is okay or not?
If anyone is not happy and facing problem atleast we can talk to that person and tell him to be in touch with University counsellor or other members so that they can do some thing etc.
All I mean is that now is the time to keep our EGOS behind and be together after all we all are INDIANS and are brothers and sisters.
Its we who have to watch ours and each others back and stand for each other.
Be in touch with FISA, post your coments so that we know what is happening around.

Take care all of you and be Safe.

It never feels good when one of your Country men got attacked and lie on that hospital ICU bed recovering from one of the worst inhuman attack on human being. It is heart breaking to see Racism of any kind in today’s world that to in Australia, which was once, supposes to be called the safest developed country.
My name is Sandeep Mahendru, I am from Indore (M.P) and belong to simple working class family, I have came to Australia for my better career and future, it was tough for the first few days to adjust here, otherwise I find this place and people friendly enough, but the last few weeks have been so difficult for me. In last 3 years in Australia, I finished my MBA in International Business and still am a full time student, doing a diploma in Finance. I am working in a National Australia Bank here on a temporary basis. I never felt so much depressed, scared, and tensed because of what Indians are facing here in Australia from last couple of weeks.
We, Indians come here in Australia to have better career, for a better future; we pay taxes and live here like any other responsible Australian citizen. We (Indians) come here in a huge number, the recent data say 80,000 annually, and almost half of them here in Melbourne, Victoria. Education industry is amongst the top 3 industry here that earns major revenue for Australia.
Luckily, it never happens with me but it is still happening with my fellow Indians, and it’s unacceptable for me. Everywhere, at my university where I study, at my work this incidents has been a major concern and a hot topic of discussion. After facing these incidents as international student, no one here could feel safe. This could happen with anyone. We all go out in groups but we can’t do this every time, as here all my friends staying together don’t go to same work place. And practically it is not possible to go around in groups.
It is just not us (Indians) here who are tensed about this situations, I have been receiving calls from my parents, brothers and other loved ones on a regular basis and they are equally tensed and worried about me. If sometimes, I don’t call them for just 2-3 days because being busy with study and work, they get really worried and I start getting continuous calls asking for my well being.
Teenagers in Australia, under 20 years of age are so aggressive against any other nationality, and they just look for easy targets to attack and rob for money, when they are fully drunk, or on some drugs. The other day I saw almost 15-17 Australians bashing 3 innocent guys passing through railway station. I don’t know what nationality they belong to, but my point is this is secular multicultural country, why this kind of hatred for any one.
Disgracefully, shamefully and immorally we have faced the worst day of our life in Australia. We’ll fight it whenever it arises and we'll continue to raise our voices until it is gone.
Australians here who have capabilities to work, but they still don’t work just because their government supports them and pays them social welfare of almost $900 in every two weeks. And what they say that we Indians taking their jobs away, but no one knows that they just don’t want to work and spend money they get from government on buying drugs.
There are few steps that can be taken. First, laws should clearly prohibit all forms of discrimination, and such laws should be rigorously enforced. Secondly, all governments should send a clear message that racism will not be tolerated - in society in general and in all agencies of the state. All crimes with a racist nature should be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice. And we also want our Indian government to put continuous pressure on Australia government and to keep a control on this kind of inhuman incidents. And also make sure people doing this kind of crime to be punished severely.
And, lastly I would say that what I have to gone through and what my parents have gone through, the day is not far that I and many others like me would think twice to come to Australia even not as an tourist.
It is true that 90% of the attacks happen because of the teenagers. It sends me a shiver to see a group of teens, esp in suburbs!
But i think this is the case with teens of the developed countries. they learn to bully each other right from primary school. I just wish that these protests just don't go on beyond limit and has a good result.
I am an Indian currently staying in the USA and recently obtained my PR for Australia. I have been thinking of moving to Australia with my family for quite some time, though I knew that this nation of ex-convicts has always been filled with racists, now with all this recent attacks I dont think I would want to move to Australia anymore.
Also, one more thing, mamy people have suggested protest marches etc.. Are you kidding ?? The only way these white peices of shit will understand is if we Indians can organize like them and bash a few white-faced good for nothing drug addicts. and the see the racial attacks will automatically stop.
If I were you, I wouldn't for the slightest bit consider doing something like that. I've spent 2 years in the States when I was younger, and have always wanted to go back. The only reason most of us end up in Australia, was because back then the exchange rates were lower. Plus it's nearer to home, which again makes it cheaper to travel. There are many good people here and great things about this place, but on a day to day basis, you probably would not feel secure or welcomed.
Violence would worsen the situation, and if we do the same, it makes us no better than the criminals who are doing these things. But I guess if we do see someone getting bashed up, we should help them regardless of their race, which means even if a white dude was attacked, we should help if we can. To quote Russell, "be a man..."
Hello,
I have been living in Australia since 2006, came on a student visa now am a PR. All I can suggest and recommend is think over your decision twice if you are planning to live in VIC/ ACT , Sydney is better then others however, no promises.
If you are in USA, then coming from USA to Australia in 90s were a better option, however, now can't say.
If you are rich enough and are powerful and are going to apply for citizenship, then yes you will be able to survive in Australia.
But your about kids I would recommed that this is NOT a safe place.
Rest decision is yours.
Take care.....
Angad
Angad,
Your comments are typical of a extremist.
I actually doubt if you have a rational mind at all.
You advice that it is recommended to think over twice if one has plans to live in VIC or ACT. Why are you living in VIC mate, if this is your advice for others.
Can you let us know the source of funding for all of your hate comments, here. Does it comes from an India-hating source. Is somebody like Dawood financing you.
My heart goes out to Indian students in Australia, who are doing it hard. They live here without family, have to work enormous hours to earn a living, often live in cheek by jowl to save money, face racism and now they have risk physical and mental injury because they are Indian.
I feel so sad and bad for them, please let them know we are with them.
Sunila Srivastava
its was really sad to c guys banging a human like anything..i cannot define how merciless it would have been...it really sad that such people lives in the same society as we all...
i am very sad over the incident .
I dont know whts gonna go next but the guy who suffered wud never be able to come off from this shock..
sad!!!!!!
Hello,
Appreciate your feelings, however, you can do alot, you can atleast tell you fellow students and friend to come together and contact each other atleat weekly to know whats happening, and become 1 group.
Tell them if they are individual to start living in shared accomodation with fellow Indian so that they not only be together they will be their to help each other,
Tell them to be part of any local community group ex:- Gujarat samaj / nepal samaj etc.
Tell them to avoid living far away in remote suburs, if 4 studnets want to share an accomodation they can easily afford one in city.
tell them to keep observing eye for fellow students, if one is missing classes for more then 7 days continously try to find out what is happening etc.
It cost $7000 minimum for a dead body to be sent back to India and the loss the parents suffers cann't be counted in $$, suggest the student who are facing problem in staying or surving in australia to go back to India.
Its not worth wasting yourself.
You are young and can try for Air Force/ ARMY / BAF etc.
Think about this its us and only us can help us.
Hi all,
I think we should do a protest march to Parliament. These people should know that each and every Indian living in this country is very sad and angry about the recent racist activities.
i think this wud be needed...its important to show such aprotest..n i think if this can be peaceful ..i mean non-violence it can be much better. n we all can make it.. I m in for it.
like last day i was with FISA and we just want to make our point that beating up or busting up of Indian students have to be stopped. We all Indian's were their for Justice. we just want answers from the Australian government that are they able to protect us. So they have no answers for our questions. Victoria needs Army to protect us not the Police. Police is Just a Piece of crap and they are just for fines not for protection. We want protection or give us the right to self defense we can show what we can do. we Indians are together always whether they make 1 arrest or 18 we can't step behind we are always together. whether you use Special forces or Beat us up with Sticks. we will stand together.
VICTORIAN POLICE AND GOVERNMENT ARE NOT ABLE TO PROTECT US.
wake up guys we have to do something by our own. JAI HIND
Spoken like a true spineliness Gandhi-follower. Please, when are we Indians going to get out of that mentally deranged state of non-violence and face things with some courage and dignity ?? I say we should give these Aussie pie-faces a taste of their own medicine.
Then see how the racial attacks will stop.
You stupid Karu708,
You are promoting violence and you have a rotten mind.
Hi,
Following Gandisim is not bad, keep in mind these students are here on education loan, and are from middle class, have to apply for PR and have only 1 thing in mind, their PR should not get jeopradised, which is right to do so, and dealing with these kind of situation is not that easy, what they are doing is the best they could, all we can do is support them by builing our network and coming together so that we can become a strong community and stand and support each other.
And yes, we are giving them taste of their own medicine, by getting more educated and becoming successful then them, and we can do it better by coming together.
which we will.
Fiends, Please remain calm as you are one of the most peaceful part of our Australian society. Hats off to you and your culture.
Remain vigilant and help cops nab such misfits.
Thanks

Let me start by saying that I, being an Australian, it is so not like Australian and I am shocked to hear and see international students being harassed and attacked. I have heard and read attacks on aisian/chineese and now indian students. Guys (who are attacking these students), all these students and people are our guests till they become citizens and we should look after these guests as these students bring over $15 Billion in the economy and create heaps of jobs, and if my fellow australians donot understand what the above $ value means then think this way... the whole stimulus package was aound $20 billion from Kevin Rudd to boost Australian economy and we will need $20 billion stimulus package every year if we lose these guests... That is just a material reason but more importantly... are we animals or humans? Can we just shake hands and live together and have a dialogue? Can we behave like humans for a change? Can we just respect our fellow beings? We are Australians and we need to clean up our image overseas!!!!! What is this crap race Supremacy? Haven't we learnt from world war 2 and what happens to such people?
Aussies are not racist, come'on Aussies lets show our real selves, real australians and be the friendliest nation and people in the world! Let's join the peace march in July and prove that we are not racist and turn in all such people who are spoiling the name of our nation! Lets join hands... all ethnicities, nativeAustralians, born Australians, new australians, citizens and visiors.
I am proud to be a genuine frindly Australian.
My Indian friends, please remain peacefull and assist Police nab such appaling people as they must be brought to justice. You have been one of the most peaceful part of the society and your protest has been very peaceful so far. Please remain vigilant, calm and work closely with Police. We Australians are with you!!!
