FISA invites everyone to generously support the Indian students. As reported widely by the media Indian students have been the victims of various attacks. This has caused trauma, anguish for everyone and has resulted in other issues such as mental health issues such as depression and other health issues such as disability etc.

The community has been under a lot of pressure to organise ad-hoc fund raising for these sporadic events. There had been calls for a more unified approach. FISA is engaged at lobbying at national levels in India and Australia to highlight the issue and generate government support.

However it is imperative that the community contributes to its own welfare. Some FISA endorsed initiatives are:

1300 FISA 4 U:
It is a dedicated hotline number for all Indian students to call FISA volunteers in case of need. This is a crucial project with a lot of infrastructure requirements. At the moment this program is funded by student volunteers. We are waiting for the Victoria State Government to fulfil its promise of providing funding. Till such time, community support will be welcome.

Emergency Relief Fund:
FISA is establishing a fund which will be used to support students in any emergency situation. This is an ongoing fund.

There are other initiatives being discussed and materialised based on funds and resources available. Some other noteworthy projects are:
FISA 2010 Summit;
Legal Support;
Counselling for victims and relatives;
Info-portal and discussion forums;
Dial-a-Mate program.

All the funds received will be individually acknowledged on the FISA website. Anonymous donations are welcome.

We wish to thank all our supporters, in advance, for their role in the development of FISA.
