In all the discussions about jobs, discrimination and safety; Education seem to have taken a back seat. Let us not forget what we are here for in the first place.

Let us discuss and make each other aware of the Quality issues at our Institute. We must expose incidents such as people failing by less than 5% marks, Poor quality academic staff, rude admin staff, bullying, dodgy computer labs, empty libraries etc.

Job Market

I'm interested in Humanities-related couses like Human Resource Management and International Relations. If I do a Masters in these fields from say, Uni of sydney or Melbourne, what are my chances of landing up with a course-RELATED job in Australia???What about the international job market??? Will I be left unemployed??? This a concern for many of us humanities people. Do shed light.

Do students find electrician and plumbing trade interesting?

I am not sure students are willing to do electrician and plumbing courses and are these offered to international students? These trades need some quality because of safety aspects.

If students are interested but not offered these courses. There can be two reasons.

a) Govt knows what education quality they offer to International students.

b) These two trades are protected by strong union and these unions creates safety hype to justify protection.

About Aerospace Aviation, Bankstown, Sydney

The following are the issues that are of concern to the students of Aerospace Aviation (A/A) currently undergoing their flying training at Aerospace Aviation, Sydney.

1. Aerospace Aviation has breached every aspect of the very contract, as per which the training has to be provided.

a) The time frame of about 28 weeks to 52 weeks, which was mentioned in the offer letter has been extended beyond reasonable period resulting in uncertainity of the course completion and abnormal delay in the further processes which can be verified from the progress of the students currently enrolled at the school.

b) The amount stated as the course fee, is not the final fee amount credited to the student at the end of his/her course. Every candidate who has passed out from this school has paid an excessive fee to obtain his/her's CPL. This can be verified from the accounts section of the school or from every student that has passed out.

2. Aerospace Aviation has never given a break down of the amount charged to a student, neither writen or vocal about the breakdown of the course, i.e. the number of dual sorties at various stages and their implications on the final course fee. Their accounts has never been made transparent and the students were neither intimidated about the various additional costs that have been deducted from a students account nor a full detailed account statements, with actual amounts stated on the paper were issued to a student upon repeated requests.

3. Aerospace Aviation never informed the students about the way in which they were supposed to have performed during their training period and the effect thereafter upon non-compliance with the standards. They were never cautioned, nor warned about their poor performance during any stage of the program.
4. Aerospace Aviation did not have a synchronised training program for the students. This is evident from the uninformed, unasked changes that were made to both training program and training schedule, this after the student had followed and got used to the earlier system. The feedback of the students was never asked for and the students were forced to follow the new training program.
Examples being :

a) Making GFPT,PPL, then CPL an a compulsory process, whereas a student could either do a GFPT or a PPL as per his/her choice as per the earlier system.

b) Phase Manager system induction whereby,

i) Students were not allowed to fly with the instructors they were already training with, making the students cope to the expectations of the new instructor resulting in additional training costs.

ii) Changes in the training module and literature.

And all these, after the students had completed more than 12 months of training and had got very well got accoustomed to the earlier system.

5. Aerospace Aviation had very minimal infrastructure in terms of

a) Instructors availability.

b) Aircraft availablility.

c) Non availability of sufficient rooms to accomodate the students.

d) Insufficient rest rooms.

e) Non availability of a library or even news papers for students to go through when they are at the school.

All the above insufficiencies resulted in the following :

i) Very poor quality training being imparted to students, which is evident from:

- The delayed first soloflights in Cessna 152's.

- The exhorbitant increase in dual hours of the students.

- The number of faliures in the flight test. (GFPT,PPL,CPL,CIR)
All of the above statements can be verified against the progress check of the students.
P.N. The above may also be because of the malicious intention of the management to increase the number of dual hours of flight for money.
ii) Very infrequent flights being booked for the students resulting in :

- Loss of interest in flying because of the inability to perform.

- Inability to perform.

- Again increase in number of dual hours, thereby causing significant loss to the student of time and money, resulting in mental harrasement and depression which could result in poor performance during flying training and disasters during solo flights.

iii) Students losing interest in attending the school for the reasons :

- Wastage of time.

- Facilities not being available.

- Instructors not being available for clarifying doubts of students.

6. Adding to the above griefs are the following facts that the students face making them feel lost, cheated and demoralised.

a) Non friendly management including instructors.

- Rude behaviour against queries by Operations Manager Mr. Glenn Elms. He has been found yelling and abusing students for no fault of theirs and even manhandling students on multiple occasions.

Management has been informed about this many a times, but not once did management bother to reprimand him, thereby emboldening him to continue with his unacceptable behaviour.

b) Unprofesional approach adapted by the instructors in teaching the students.

- When a student is found doing his pre-flight paper work incorrectly, the instructors instead of correcting the student, abuse the student and apply a cancellation fee.
- Instructors are often found abusing and displaying rude manners in flight.

c) Students wishes and requests have never been honoured.
Example, a student has been forced to go on flights at the management's own discretion and sometimes against sudents wishes.
d) The CFI never devotes time on listening to students queries, let alone address them. Infact most of the time the CFI is not even not aware of the stage of a particular student's flying progress and the time he /she has spent in achieving the same. The only time the mangement is ever concerned with a student's exsitence is at the time of his fee installment.

e) Students are not given access to their own properties and to which they have every right to access such as- Logbooks, Account Statements with the amounts stated on it.

All the above mentioned points indicated a very non commited, unprofessional, unethical and illegal acts of management aimed at only earning money at the cost of a student's career and his future.
Presently a court case is going on.

we are ONE against deakin..

It's sad to hear on what's happening there at Deakin. i see deakin using brett lee and people here are getting crazy to go deakin but I am sure this wont last for long. Degree are of use only when applying for pr. They are almost worthless when applying for a job in relevant industry. when I came here, i was shocked that employers did not even value my degree and I had to start workin for just Rs 20,000 per month.

go man.. we are with you.. i am not alone we have other deakin graduates doin the same thing.. monash is also the same.. nothing better..
